Field Service Engineer (m/f/d)

As a talented and team-oriented TOPTICA Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties related to our laser systems in scientific and industrial applications with partners in bio-photonics, industrial metrology, and quantum technology industries. This hands-on work is direct customer support both in the North American Headquarters’ office and at customer sites.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Field service of existing TOPTICA laser systems at existing customer sites.
  • Installation of new laser systems at customer locations; regular travel will be required.
  • Service and repair of laser systems in-house when needed.
  • Technical and application troubleshooting with both internal and external customers.
  • Periodic travel to TOPTICA’s headquarters in Munich for training and product orientation

Required skills:

  • Significant experience and skill in hands-on work with cw and/or ultrafast lasers and optical techniques.
  • Must be able to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as an outgoing personality and a desire to interact with people.
  • Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds.

Qualifications:

  • Unrestricted right to work in United States required
  • Practical experience installing and aligning optical systems.
  • Understanding of optical principles and design.
  • Knowledge of laser system design.
  • Physics, electrical engineering, chemistry, or a related scientific degree.
